Ecker Center for Mental Health will host a free wine and cheese reception on October 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elgin Art Space Lofts, 51 S. Spring Street, Elgin. The reception is open to the public. The event is being held to introduce the agency’s first-ever calendar – 2018: New Year, NewHope. The photography features iconic Kane County locations as captured by local photographers James Harvey and Jess Yeska as well as submissions from Ecker staff and courtesy photos from the Kane County Forest Preserve. “Each photo is superimposed with an inspirational quote which underscores the theme of ‘NewYear, New Hope’,” said Ecker Center CEO Karen Beyer. “The end product is as much a work of art as a functional wall calendar. We’re really quite proud of it.” Copies of the calendar will be for sale at the reception as well as Ecker’s Festival of Trees dinner and auction on November 11th at the St. Charles Country Club. Individual copies are $20 (two for $30). For more information, contact Ecker Center events manager Kay Catlin at 847-695-0484 x 1913. The photo shown is by James Harvey of James Harvey Photography, Elgin. It was taken at the Dundee Dam on the Fox River and is representative of the quality of photos showcased in the calendar. James is a resident of Elgin ArtSpace Lofts.
